Icmeler Beach
Icmeler beach boasts wonderful surroundings, an incredible back-drop of mountain forests and a lovely view out over the crystal clear sea. The beach itself has an almost gritty sand, rather coarse but prefered and considered by many to be a sandier beach than the shingle beach at
Marmaris. Indeed, many of the visitors to Icmeler beach are those that have journeyed from Marmaris which has a relatively poor beach. People based in Marmaris make the short trip by domlus (local bus - expect to pay around 2.50 lira per person) or water taxi which are both cheap ways of getting here, the water taxi gives passengers a chance to take in some of the great views. The beach is kept in very good order, clean and generally a lot less busier than Marmaris beach.
The water at Icmeler beach
The beach is great for families with children as the water is shallow and nice and warm during the summer months. The clear calm waters with designated swimming areas make it perfect for swimming and relaxing on inflatables. If you venture further out you'll find that the water depth does increase rapidly. Water sports and activities are popular with snorkeling, pedalos, crazy inflatable rides, boat trips, water-buggies and so on available. If you're so inclined there's also a water park closeby for the children.
Parasols, sunbeds and bars at Icmeler beach
The beach has a number of parasols and sunbeds available for use. You can hire these at reasonable rates for whatever time period you choose. There are free sunbeds, however you'll probably be expected to purchase drinks from which ever beach-bar you hired them from. Beds are nicely spaced which allows young children to play nearby so you can keep an eye on them.
What people say about Icmeler Beach
The general consensus is that Icmeler beach is a great place to spend the day and is great for those with children. Turn-offs include being hassled by those working for the bars trying to get you to buy drinks and hire sunbeds. There are a number of restaurants serving good food at very reasonable prices. There's a range of food available from snacks to three course meals, also very handy to pop in and grab an ice-cream or refreshing ice-cold drink.
